La Postéritée

On a rugged peninsula jutting out from Brittany, France, stands a 140-year-old post office that has been renovated into a charming home. This transformation is the work of its owners, Béju and Sherryl, artists, placemakers, and founders of La Postéritée.
La Postéritée is a retreat center designed to help others embark on a journey of self-discovery. With a focus on art, travel, and cultural exploration, visitors are offered a thoughtful, personalized experience tailored to their creative or experiential goals. Tuo contributed to the effort by crafting an identity system and website that conveyed both the unique concept and the distinctive setting to audiences seeking a transformative experience.
The region in which you find La Postéritée is steeped in layers of history stretching back over 8,000 years. In more recent times the building used to serve as the local post office of Saint Pierre Quiberon. That storyline felt an important reference for the logo. Vintage French stamps and the typography that decorated them served as the inspiration for a word mark with both personality and heritage.
The setting, both natural and manmade had a strong hand in the development of both the color palette and imagery.
The color palette asserted a familiar quality that feels classic without sacrificing some whimsy.
Another driving motivation in the design system was the aim to weave in architectural details of the building in a way that didn’t feel forced. The characteristic window frames on the first floor provided just the thing. Pair that with the original wrought iron lettering that stands for “Saint Pierre Quiberon,” and what resulted was a super flexible idea we implemented across various mediums.
The window frame – both a metaphor for the experience and a physical reminder of the space where it happens – became a strong device linking both the visitor’s ambition with their outcome.
Another way we honored the history of the post office was in the detailing of certain borders. Paying homage to the stamp edges, the result offered a familiarity and tactile quality that elevates our imagery.
The system is incredibly type driven, blending personality, intention and curiosity in a way that allows for self-expression and nuance.
Tuo also created the digital experience for La Postéritée starting from the ground up.
