Tuo Studio

An identity designed for play

One would imagine that designing an identity for your own branding practice would be pretty straightforward. But somewhere in the middle of the process I started to feel a little silly for how rigidly I was approaching this. What resulted from relaxing the rules was a beautiful tension between minimalism and maximalism — the feeling of a creative space — which had been the goal all along. There’s bit of a lesson in that for me.

“There is no win and no fail. There is only make.”

Corita Kent

I fell in love with the way a studio made me feel while attending art school — what it stands for, what it allows my mind to do. Text strewn about the walls, shelves and the spines of books always felt comforting and inviting.

Typography is meant to be a celebration of type like that.
